A divided Denver Public Schools Board of Education Thursday restored some of the autonomy to 52 innovation schools it had stripped away in an overly-hasty move last March.
Boardhawk reported on the move to restore freedoms last week. Chalkbeat has a good summary of Thursday’s vote.
Newly appointed board member Charmaine Lindsay joined Tay Anderson, Scott Esserman, Carrie Olson, and Michelle Quattlebaum in supporting the restoration. Board President Xóchitl “Sochi” Gaytán and board member Scott Baldermann, architects of the original autonomy-stripping policy change, opposed the partial reversal.
